Upon winning the Best Record Promoter of the year at the just ended Ghana DJ Awards 2015 dubbed ‘Amplified’, host of Cruise Control on Hitz 103.9FM, Kwame Bee, has expressed appreciation to his fans and listeners for voting for him.
“I didn’t expect to win though I deserved it, but I am still happy that I won and I thank everyone who voted including my fans, listeners and the organizers, Merqury Republic for appreciating my works,” he said.
The Cruise Control host further indicated, “I have been a promoter of Ghanaian music since I started way back as a DJ and show host and to be specific, I love and prefer to promote my Ghanaian musicians.”
According to him, “When I decide to promote a song, I don’t just play the songs submitted by either an underground, growing or an already established artiste, but I make sure I present it to you (my listeners) to hear them first and also play on my show regularly.”
Adding, “when it comes to Ghanaian Music, no matter who you are, be you an underground or a star, once your song is good, I make sure I play it on my show.”
Known in real life as Kwame Empeh; Kwame Bee further noted, “this is something I have been doing in a long time especially for Ghanaian music although I do play a few of foreign new songs. But even with the foreign new songs, I only play when it’s already a hit song.”
Absenting himself on the night of the show held at the auditorium of the Accra International Conference Centre, his colleague Ibrahim Brako received the plaque on his behalf. He explained that he did not intentionally absent himself from the Ghana DJ Awards but, “I misplaced my ticket and I didn’t want to border the organizers.”
The Best Record Promoter of the year category included nominees as DJ Mixx, DJ Nature 1, Kofi Afrifa, Sammy Forson and DJ Advicer.
