Labourer jailed for having sex with fowl

Mankranso (Ash), May 5, GNA - A 42-year-old farm labourer at Mehame, near Barniekrom in the Ahafo-Ano South district, has been sentenced to 12 month's imprisonment by the Mankranso magistrate court for having sex with a domestic fowl.

Akwasi Asamoah pleaded guilty to the offence. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Abraham Agyei Mensah told the court that about a month ago, Asamoah arrived at the Mehame cottage from Akim-Oda in search of job and was engaged as a farmhand by the complainant, one Kyeremeh.

Inspector Mensah said two weeks later, Kyeremeh returned from his farm and noticed a whitish liquid substance on one of his fowls. The bird died later and the carcass thrown away, the court heard. Insp Mensah said on May 3, at about 0530 hours, Mr Kyeremeh heard a knock on his door and when he opened, he saw Asamoah who had gone to inform him about how under very strange circumstances the complainant's eight eggs under incubation had all been smashed.

Mr Kyeremeh got curious and upon close examination detected a whitish fluid on the hen that had been hatching the eggs. The prosecutor said the complainant became suspicious and confronted the accused, who confessed sexing the bird.

During interrogation by the police after his arrest, he readily admitted the offence and said that was his third time.
