Lamisi Mbillah is Miss Ghana 2005

Accra, July 10, GNA - Miss Lamisi Mbillah, a 22-year-old student of the University of Ghana studying Zoology was on Sunday crowned Miss LG Ghana 2005.

Ursula Naa Dei Neequaye, a 20-year-old student of the University of Ghana Legon was the first runner up while Maame Afua Anne Darko, a 19-year-old of the University of Cape Coast was the second runner up. For her prize, Lamisi Mbillah took home a car, 10,000 dollars for her education and career enhancement and a state-of-the art LG home appliances worth 20 million cedis.

She would also have a wardrobe provided by the Akosombo Textile Limited, 1 million monthly allowances, free make over and skin therapy during her reign from FC perfumery.

She was also given a ticket for an Accra-London-Accra trip provided by the Astraeus Airline to participate in the Miss World contest. Ursula Naa Dei Neequaye also took home a set of living room furniture worth 5,000 dollars courtesy Woodeck limited, LG home appliances worth 15 million cedis, five Million cedis and an Accra-London-Accra ticket.

Maame Afua also took hone, LG home appliance worth 10 million, Three million cedis cash, set of kitchenware and an Accra-London-Accra ticket.

After the contestants have gone through grilling rounds of Talent hurt, Question time and Highlife session the 21 contestants were cut down to eight, where each of them were asked to give a message to the public, which centred on HIV/AIDS, Girl Child education, irresponsible parenting and environmental protection.

After that round the contestants were cut down to five where each of them was asked to answer the same question, if one of them were to be one of the judges.

The contest was a straight fight between lamisi Mabilla and Yvonne Nelson who also won the most talented and photogenic lady took 2 million cedis.

Other special awards were Miss Personality, which went to Miss Anita Adu who took home 2 million cedis; Miss Talent, which went to Miss Lamisi Malilla while Miss Eloquence went to the Miss Ghana and was given 2 million cedis.

Miss Fitness went to 20 year-old Monica Baaba Jones and the Miss Worth Queen went to 21-year-old Horentina Aborchie who also had 2 million cedis as her prize.

Miss Lamisi Mbillah later told the Ghana News Agency that she would adopt the Don Bosco Children project, which was started by her predecessor to build a girls hostel.
She also has plans to establish a car-washing bay to generate funds for the upkeep of street children.
Lamisi said, "I taught that I have a good chance of winning but I knew I had to work hard for it".
Abrantie Amakye Dede provided music and most of the patrons sang and danced to the tune of hit songs like "iron boy". Castro a hip life artiste also provided music.
Present at the ceremony were personalities like Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister of Womem and Children' Affairs, Mr Asamoah Boateng, Deputy Minister of Tourism and the Modernization of the Capital City and Nii Ajiri Blankson, Metropolitan Chief Executive.
Many of the patrons who spoke to the GNA after the event said this year's contest was an improvement over that of last year.
Mr Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) and Nana Aba Anamaoh who were the Masters of Ceremony kept audiences interest alive.
