Following the shocking death of the late President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, some musicians alleged that MUSIGA President, Obour misappropriated funds realized from the tribute song “Yedi Awereho” but he has denied the claims by his colleagues.

Obour in an interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM disclosed that the tribute song was registered in the name of MUSIGA.

“I think it’s a comment being made from a point of ignorance. There’s no way the song is on the internet of which I’m making money from it. If it’s about “3y3 me ya”, that is my personal song which I recorded in 2005 due to my accident I had in 2004 and it also on my ‘Konkonteba’ Album. The song which we recorded for the late President is “Yedi Awereho”, which is an All Star gospel song and it’s registered in the name of MUSIGA. The reason why people are still saying it’s my song will be because it was recorded in my time as the President of MUSIGA.”

He also revealed that the reason for the recording of the song was to generate funds to support the wife and family of the late president but unfortunately the sales did not go as they intended.

He also added that the late President’s wife, Madam Ernestina Naadu Mills was not in favour of they supporting her but advised that any proceeds should be used to support the musicians.

“The only reason why we recorded the Tribute song was to support the family of the late President but that did not happen because we had poor sale. Also we never intended to commercialise the tribute song but during the funeral, others advised that we duplicate some few copies that we can sell to generate some money to support his wife.”

Obour aslo stated that, MUSIGA didn’t make any profit from the song “Yedi awereho” as it has been speculated.

“MUSIGA didn’t make any revenue from that tribute song. We used much more resources and also had some support from the government when we created the tribute concept. No one paid us for the cost of the song, it was MUSIGA who took the cost.”

All stars in Ghana came together with an amazing track in memory of the late President, John Evans Atta Mills. The song entitled “Yedi awereho” was composed as a tribute song for the departed President.
