After 35 years of hardwork, great passion, commitment and dexterity, one of the best Broadcasters Ghana has ever produced Tommy Annan Forson picks up THE EMINENCE AWARD at the KEMPINSKI GOLD COAST HOTEL in Accra on Saturday November 18th.

The Eminence Award which is a CITI TV event has been set up to recognise and celebrate personalities who have made a significant impact in their various fields of endeavour.

Speaking to Lovin’ C on the unique FOX ENTERTAINMENT SHOW on 97.9 FM , an emotional but elated Tommy Annan Forson shared the exceptional journey of his careeer from his first love THE GHANA BROADCASTING CORPORATION(GBC) in 1977 ,where he printed his name in gold on the exciting THURSDAY LATE AFTERNOON SHOW on RADIO TWO which he christened “The 16:05 Soul Train” to RABODEF which is a Broadcasting School he has set up to unearth talents for the industry.

Recaping how he was coerced by former colleague Jimmy Amekpofor to join GBC, Tommy Annan Forson told Lovin’ C how he psyched himself up to come up with an excellent delivery whenever he was on air. His great sense of humour and extraordinary way of picking songs from Highlife to Pop and Country Music put him miles ahead of his peers earning him the LEISURE AWARD.

The energetic Tommy Annan Forson who started JOY FM in 1995 together with the owner Mr Kwesi Twum and a host of other dynamic broadcasters like Kofi Adjorlolo, Kofi Tsarkponu, Mark Okraku Mante etc, also talked about how they overcame the challenge of putting the right programmes together to beat the competition.

He singled out the first major VALENTINES DAY promotion they ran on JOY FM which was a major success resulting in LOVE and the colour RED dominating the city of Accra.

It was at this same station where he discovered the late Komla Dumor who rose to became an anchor at the BBC World Service. Tommy added that he later had to pick up another task by joining SUNSHINE RADIO where he had to help with the rebranding of the station.

They picked the name CHOICE FM and introduced innovative programmes with presenters like George Brun, Fisho, Fiifi Pratt, Maame Dokono, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah etc to capture the market. Tommy’s latest project is the Broadcasting School he has set up called RABODEF aim at churning out professionals to feed the broadcasting industry in Ghana.

The school has been running for the past 14years. Tommy showered a lot of praise on his wife Mrs. Christy Nanayaa Agyare Annan Forson. who is an actress and a broadcaster who he describes as “his backbone”. Tommy wife paid a glowing tribute on the LIVE interview with Lovin’ C.

The affable Tommy Annan Forson mentions the late Charlie Sam as his mentor in Broadcasting. In conclusion Tommy Annan Forson advised today’ s breed of broadcasters never to stop learning and also improve on their grammar.

He advised Newscasters to eschew the dramatisation of News bulletins. He reiterated that NEWS is a very serious component in broadcasting worldwide and must be treated as such.
