Leila Djansi showcases Ghana’s kente at LA Film Festival opening

The Ghanaian filmmaker of international repute is representing her country very well at the 2016 edition of Los Angeles Film Festival.

She attended the festival’s opening on Wednesday in Ghana’s Kente and shared photos with some personalities including Blair Underwood.

The festival holds from June 1 to June 10, 2016, in Los Angeles at the Archlight Cinemas in Culver City and Hollywood.

Leila’s latest movie; Like Cotton Twines will play in competition in the World Cinema category of the festival, Thursday June 2. By playing in the competition, the film is nominated for the Best World Fiction Film.

The film tells the story of Micah Brown, an American volunteer takes a teaching job in a remote African village where he meets Tuigi, a 13-year old girl who is to become Trokosi, wife to the gods. A practice of religious sexual slavery.

It stars actress Yvonne Okoro, star of BET’s The Game Jay Ellis, David Dontoh, Luckie Lawson, Adjetey Anang, Ophelia Dzidzornu and Hollywood executive, actress/producer Miranda Bailey who produced last year’s award-winning film Diary of a Teenage Girl.
