Leila nets new deal with iROKOtv

Leila Djansi is expected to return to Africa for a new production belonging to iROKOtv.

The Ghanaian director of international repute who directed award-winning movies like I Sing of Well, Sinking Sands, Ties That Bind, And There Was You and Northern Affairs is yet to confirm the deal.

However, sources close to her have revealed that Leila had concluded every transaction to come down for the production.

iROKOtv is a web platform that provides free and paid-for Nigerian films on-demand. It is one of Africa’s first mainstream online movies streaming on websites, giving free and instant access to over 5,000 Nollywood films.

iROKOtv was launched on December 1, 2011. Its parent company, iROKO Partners, was founded by Jason Njoku and Bastian Gotter in December 2010, with its headquarters in Anthony village, Lagos, Nigeria.

iROKOtv, which has been dubbed the ‘Netflix’ of Africa, is the world’s largest legal digital distributor of African movies.

This would be a first time project for Leila to shoot for the company and undoubtedly a lot of expectations would await this new movie. What is yet to be confirmed is whether the production would be in Ghana or Nigeria.

Leila, who is currently based in the United State of America last shot Northern Affair film in Accra. The film won Best Production Design at the just-ended Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in Nigeria.
