Ghanaian female rapper Esbee has said it is good for adults to talk about sex in public and even educate the young ones on the nitty-gritty of sex without feeling shy.

The hot female rapper, who is the daughter of music guru Alhaji Sidiku Buari, said it was disturbing, the way Ghanaians shied away from discussing issues about sex or sex organs although the subject is a crucial one that needs frequent discussion.

She has therefore urged people, irrespective of their gender or social standing, not to shy away from talking about sex or sex organs.

Esbee, known in real life as Semera Buari, made the comment ahead of her debut performance as an actress in the popular and controversial stage play, Vagina Monologue.

Vagina Monologue, written by Eve Ensler, delves into female experiences and serves as an educative platform which touches on issues that are normally considered important but a taboo to talk about.

The play was put together by the Department of Theatre Arts, School of Performing Arts, over the weekend at the Efua Sutherland Studio, University of Ghana, Legon.

According to the young rapper, she chose to be part of the play to encourage people to feel free when talking about sex.

“I am happy to be part of the play. It’s informative,” she said.

“There’s too much undue politics surrounding issues relating to sex… This is largely due to how we have been educated over the years. We should be able to talk about sex freely,” she indicated.

It was Ebee’s first role as an actress after studying Theatre Arts at the University of Ghana. She has since joined the list of her family members who have acted and pursued music careers at the same time.
