It’s a part of relationships and dating that no one likes to talk about, and for good reason: Infidelity can get really, really ugly, and no one wants to be a victim of it. Stereotypes dictate that men are more likely to be cheaters — but women can cheat too, and for pretty much all of the same reasons.
But what exactly are those reasons? Below, we offer some explanations as to why a woman might cheat on her significant other, and some of them might be surprising.
Then again, women and men aren’t so different — if a guy cheats, odds are there’s a woman out there that’s cheated for the same exact reasons. Find out what those reasons might be below, and don’t forget: Where there’s cheating in a relationship, there’s probably a whole bunch of other stuff going on, too (and clearly, none of it has to do with being happy, feeling secure, or trusting the other person).
#1. Stereotypes dictate that men are often cheaters.
As it turns out, though, there are plenty of reasons why women cheat, too — and some of them may surprise you.
#2. Probably the biggest reason women (or anyone) cheats is boredom in their relationship.
If a relationship isn’t spicy enough, it could cause someone to stray. When things hit a rut, it might be time to worry.
#3. It also depends on whether or not the woman feels like she committed to quickly.
When people are pressured into relationships, it almost never ends well.
#4. When a man isn’t a good listener, a woman will start thinking about someone who is.
An open, non-judgmental ear is so important in a relationship, and if one doesn’t have it, then they might begin to wonder if they can find someone else.
#5. Trust is a major issue, too.
If a woman doesn’t feel like she can trust you, she might give you a reason not to trust her.
