Ghanaian comic actor and musician Kwadwo Nkansah says he is ready to receive half the price he charges for playing roles in movies.
“Why not, I can even slash half of the amount I presently charge to help the industry”. He told Austine Woode on Abusua Entertainment Show in Kumasi last weekend
To him, the move is a way to lend a hand to producers in the industry.
The comedian hinted that he personally invests in movies he is featured especially when it comes to playing roles of aged persons. “I invest in mustaches I use in movies because some makeup artists do not consider quality”. He said.
He further urged movie producers to negotiate with other actors and actresses in order for them to also reduce their charges to help boost the near collapse movie industry.
“Movie producers can call us, myself, Agya Koo, Akrobeto, Kwaku Manu, Nana Ama McBrown, Emelia among others, speak with us to reduce our prices. Why not, I can even slash half of the amount I charge. But that doesn’t mean they should force only the big stars in the industry to reduce theirs, No…… that wouldn’t be fair”, Nkansah disclosed
Kwadwo Nkansah sounded very passionate concerning all that he said and went ahead to say he is even ready to work for free in some cases to help the industry bounce back.
When asked why the sudden passion for the development of the industry, he indicated that, there would be no need for him to be paid the huge amount if the movie he is featured in is likely not to make the expected sales.
The actor on the other handed complained that some players in the industry do not give them much respect as required.
