What is ‘Live In Accra Jazz Festival (LIA)’?

Since its initiation in April 2014, The Live In Accra Jazz Festival has been one of the attention-grabbing jazz festivals in Ghana that brings jazz lovers and musicians; both local and international together to better appreciate the jazz music and also promote the Jazz & live music artistes.

This festival is organised by Alliance Francaise Accra and other partners in line with the international jazz day celebration

The 4th Edition which will take place this year from 19th- 30th April 2017 will see Eight days of performances, Exhibitions, conferences and workshops by both local and international artistes well known in the Jazz Music Industry.

LINE-UP OF EVENTS FOR THE 2017 EDITION.

This year’s edition promises to be bigger, interactive and more entertaining. Several interesting events have been lined-up to celebrate the beauty and richness of the jazz industry and its artistes.

The official launch of the Live in Accra Jazz Festival begins with an exhibition by world renowned artist Yaw Safori titled: “THE ART OF JAZZ” on Wednesday, 19th April. His works have been exhibited in many parts of the world. The launch will also detail activities to expect during the festival. There will be a thrilling performance by Eli Muzik as well.

Join us for the opening concert of the jazz festival on Saturday, 22nd April with talented musicians for a night of jazz and afro jazz music.

One of South Africa's great trumpeters Marcus Wyatt will dazzle spectators along with the Victor Dey Quartet from Ghana.

The evening will begin with the captivating Ivorian songstress Ruth Tafebe who will enchant the audience with soulful Afro Jazz tunes.

On Wednesday, 26th April, there will be a mid-week concert with Esinam Dogbatse. Born in Brussels, she is a multi-instrumentalist who uses electronic machines to transform herself into a ''one-woman-band''. She composes, plays and performs her own music with flute, percussions, vocals... She's most definitely part of the new and talented generation of musicians!

Also slated for this year is the Impact Music Conference on Wednesday, 26th and Thursday, 27th of April.

The Music Conference, themed, ‘Women Allowed?’ will bring together some of the leading names in the fields of music, marketing, technology, and policy.

Spanning two days the conference will feature discussions on a range of topics related to the music industry: online content creation, carer development, the contemporary state of the music industry and in particular the role women paly in shaping its future.

Friday, 28th April, we bring you a film screening organised in partnership with GAFTA titled COZ OF MONI.

In Gbese, Accra, the rapping duo FOKN BOIS wake up and plan to go clubbing with some lady friends after chasing an evasive debtor for their money.

While going through the day, the story highlights real struggles of ordinary young Ghanaians in modern Ghana in spite of the strong elements of humor!

We wrap up the festival with a concert dubbed; Heart to Heart. The Israeli Embassy in Ghana with Alliance Française and the Kwabena Kwabena Save a Life Foundation presents an evening to enjoy a blend of Israeli Jazz and Ghanaian highlife Music while supporting children with heart conditions, with Guy Dvir, an amazing Saxophonist, and Jazz artist, Highlife musician; Kwabena Kwabena, Adomaa, Dela Botri and Hewale Sounds.
