Chief Executive Officer of Event Republic, Mel Kwasi Davis has vehemently criticized the decision by Lucky Mensah to ditch the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) saying it is the biggest mistake the highlife musician has made in his entire career.

Lucky Mensah in an interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch explained that he has cut ties with NDC because the party has driven the country into a ditch.

The musician who recorded a song to canvass votes for NDC in the 2008 elections said the party is retrogressing at the progressive rate, a reason he has taken a U-turn and recorded a campaign song for the NPP.

He expressed optimism that NPP and its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo will be the solution to Ghana’s ailing economy.

But Mel Kwasi Davis has opined that it was a wrong decision for the musician to have made. He believes Lucky Mensah should have rather made his reservations known to NDC than publicly announcing his support for NPP.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Mel likened Lucky Mensah’s posture to a man who divorces his wife because of an issue he never made any attempt to find solutions to.

“When you go into politics, credibility is key. You’ve stayed with the party and now what you are telling the whole world is, if you’re married and you have problems with your wife, you’ll leave her and go marry another woman because you don’t have the balls to face it. This is politics we’re talking about. You’re supporting an ideology, there is something wrong and you’re leaving, really? That is the biggest mistake he’s done in his entire career. This will hand him in that grey area where when you’re coming into a party, they see you as a snitch,” he told host, KMJ.

Mel further questioned what makes Lucky Mensah believe that untested policies by NPP are achievable.

“Has Ghana all of a sudden become some haven under Nana Akufo-Addo’s policies that haven’t been implemented? If he is moving to NPP, we don’t have a problem… he’s actually shot himself in the foot. It’s going to affect him,” he noted.

Meanwhile Lucky Mensah has indicated that his decision will win NPP more votes.
