Even though bubbly Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson has only starred in a few selected movies, she seems to have really warmed her way into the hearts of many African movie fans with her act.
After co-winning the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) Best Africa Actress Award with Jackie Appiah and Naa Ashorkor Doku, and her subsequent honoree award from City People Group of Companies, the stout-looking actress appears to have a lot more glory ahead of her career.
Currently, the graduate of the University of Ghana has bagged an extra recognition as she has been voted among Africa’s top 10 authentic beautiful women by Dstv’s ‘Studio 53 Extra’.
This was aired on ‘Studio 53 Extra’ last week Thursday and repeated on Sunday.
Lydia, who is also the face of rLG phones, came up number 8 in the whole of Africa alongside other beautiful and real African international icons.
They included Alek Wek, an international model; Asa, one of Nigeria’s world acclaimed musicians and Ghana’s Kate Techie Menson, Face of Africa 2009, among others.
Lydia’s recognition is anticipated to further push her status in Africa’s movie industry and beyond. Already, she is mentioned among A-list actors in Ghana despite the fact that she has only featured in a countable number of movies.
She had always said that what mattered was the quality of movies she starred in.
Lydia Forson has been acting on screen for about five years, dating back to cameo roles in ‘Hotel St. James’ (2005), ‘Run Baby Run’ (2006), ‘Different Shades of Blue’ (2007) and a stint in the reality show 'The Next Movie Star' in Nigeria (2007).
She has also appeared in movies like ‘Scorned’, ‘Perfect Picture’ and ‘A Sting In A Tale’, all from the stables of Shirley Frimpong Manso’s Sparrow Production.
