Ghanaian artiste and filmmaker M3nsa has expressed his disappointment with the lack of consistent support and recognition for artistes within the Ghanaian music industry.

During a conversation on 3FM Drive last Wednesday, M3nsa shared the difficulties he encountered while raising funds for some of his projects, including his BONDZIE album.

He shared his frustration with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) the organisation meant to assist local musicians, and recounted how he had sought funding for a project.

However, despite meeting all the requirements, MUSIGA's response came only after the project's completion, rendering their offer of support ineffective.

“We went there for funding, and they told us to write a letter after we went through the process, and we got a response after the film had been launched,” he said.

He disclosed that even family members, despite being aware of his musical endeavours, were reluctant to contribute to his crowdfunding campaign.

These challenges have led M3nsa to view a music career in Ghana as an underappreciated pursuit.

“It’s a thankless job in a sense, of course it is. You know you get loved. Even some family members were actually making me sell the idea to them. I don’t need to sell the idea to you, you know what I do, but you know we took up the challenge, and some people came through, and they made up for all the pushbacks and struggling,” he stated.
