Herbalist Collapses After Police Arrest

A 75 year old herbalist collapsed before the Nkawkaw Police when he was arrested for defiling a 13-year old sickle cell patient sent to him for treatment. Agya Aboagye lost consciousness because to him, the matter had been closed after the girl’s father collected ¢7 million to kill the case.

The girl’s father, Mohammed Kwabena Awal, who allegedly collected the money took to his heels when he heard that Agya Aboagye had mentioned his name. The police are looking for him.

He is said to have given the girl’s uncle only ¢1.5 million of the amount for his daughter’s treatment but absconded with the rest of the amount when he heard that the herbalist had been arrested.

Narrating the story to the Spectator last Wednesday, a family source who wants to remain anonymous, said the girl lives with her father at Odumasua in the Afram Plains.

She had a crisis one day and following that her father took her to Agya Aboagye, a herbalist, at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains for treatment.

Agya Aboagye was alleged to have defiled the girl on several occasions even when she was in crisis and warned her never to disclose what he had done to anyone otherwise she was going to die.

Gripped with fear, she kept it to herself and suffered in silence until her father came to visit her. The source said the father not seeing any improvement in her condition took her back to Odumasua near Maame Krobo.

But Agya Aboagye was exposed when the girl’s elder sister who lives in Accra, visited her and noticed that her sister’s condition had worsened. She asked her sister what caused the deterioration in her health and she narrated the ordeal she went through at the hands of Agya Aboagye.

Aggie then informed her father, Mohammed Kwabena Awal who confronted Agya Aboagye and he readily agreed to pay the ¢7 million charged to settle the matter.
