Accra, Nov. 11, GNA - Chizzy Nii Lomokko, a member of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has filed a writ at a High Court in Accra, seeking the court's order to restrain the Union from accepting Gyadu Blay Ambolley, from contesting for the presidency of the Union at its forthcoming congress.
In an affidavit in support of the writ, Chizzy argued that Ambolley was not a fully paid members of the Union and did not meet the conditions to become a member continuously for six months preceding the election.
The writ described Ambolley as a sojourner in America for more than six years during which he paid no dues to retain his membership.
The plaintiff argued that being eligible for life membership would be defeated by the fact of not having satisfied the constitutional requirement of serving the Union for more that four years in office.
The only time Amboley served the Union in any such capacity was for three years, in 1979 to 1982, when he was a vice president, the writ said.
