The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has officially announced the passing of Naa Amanua, a member of the legendary Ghanaian group Wulomei.
Naa Amanua passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, leaving an indelible mark on Ghana's cultural heritage through her dedication to preserving and promoting traditional music.
In a statement released by the group on December 19, 2024, and signed by its president, Bessa Simmons, MUSIGA recognized Naa Amanua for her melodious voice and evocative renditions of Ga folk music.
The body noted Naa Amanua’s contributions to various traditional music and the itinerary of awards and recognitions she received throughout her career.
Bessa Simons also expressed the union's deep sorrow at her passing, noting that her legacy lives on in her timeless recordings and the countless lives she inspired.

It is with profound sadness that MUSIGA mourns the passing of Naa Amanua, a cherished cultural icon, on Monday, December 16, 2024. Known far and wide as the soul-stirring voice of Wulomei, Naa Amanua dedicated her life to preserving and promoting Ghanaian traditional music, leaving an indelible mark on the country's cultural heritage.
From her humble beginnings, Naa Amanua rose to become one of Ghana's most beloved traditional singers. Her melodious voice and evocative renditions breathed life into timeless Ga folk music, elevating it to national and international acclaim. As a founding member of the legendary Wulomei, her artistry played a pivotal role in the revival of indigenous rhythms, blending traditional instruments like the gome and atentenben with modern influences to create a unique and captivating sound. She will be remembered for songs like Meridian, Akosua Serwaa, Akrowa, and Menyemenye.
