Ghanaian actor and New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Prince David Osei has publicly expressed his scepticism about former President John Dramani Mahama's chances of returning to power.
In a recent Twitter post, Osei stated that even with the prayers and anointing of all pastors, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Mahama would not win the presidency again.
“Even if all the pastors were to pray and anoint Ex-President Mahama, he would not regain the presidency,” he posted.
Prince David Osei also addressed the ongoing accusations against the NPP regarding illegal mining, known locally as galamsey.
He stated that this issue is not confined to one political party, noting that individuals from both the NPP and NDC, as well as other influential figures, are involved in the illicit activity.
“The ongoing propaganda tactics against the NPP, including accusations of involvement in illegal mining, will not succeed.
“The issue of illegal mining involves individuals from both NDC and NPP, politicians, pastors, and the public. Some of us are not mere observers; our prayers are impactful," he added.
The actor's comments come amid increasing demands from various labour groups, environmentalists, health practitioners, clergy, and concerned citizens for stricter government measures to address the galamsey crisis, which has led to escalating environmental damage.
The ruling NPP has faced criticism for its perceived failure to address the problem, despite President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's promises to tackle it.
