Man, 40, impregnates pupil, 13

A 40-year-old man, Robert Nii Laryea, who claimed to be an amateur boxing coach, has been charged for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 13-year-old pupil of Bishop Girls School.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been granted bail of ?10 million with a surety.

Prosecuting, Inspector E.T. Boison told an Accra Circuit Tribunal, chaired by Mr Imoru Ziblim, that Laryea and the victim live in the same house at Agbado, James Town, and on June 30, at about 2 pm, he lured the victim to buy him “waakye”.

According to the prosecutor the victim returned shortly to realise Laryea was in his room so she knocked and Laryea quickly opened the door, got hold of her and pulled her into the room.

The prosecutor said Laryea overpowered the victim in a struggle and forcibly had sex with her.

The prosecution said after Laryea has achieved his desire, he gave her ?4000 and warned her to keep it a secret.

The victim who was not pleased with the conduct, revealed the ordeal to her father.

A report was made to the James Town Police and the case was later transferred to WAJU where a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital for examination and the result proved that the victim is 12 weeks pregnant. In his caution statement Laryea admitted the offence.

The prosecution said earlier in May, Laryea allegedly had sex with the victim under the same circumstances and warned her not to disclose it to anyone.
