Man appears in court for allegedly murdering brother-in-law

Jasikan (V/R), July 24, GNA - Mr Vincent Carl Senu, sitting at the Jasikan Circuit Court on Wednesday, remanded a 35-year-old boat owner in custody for allegedly murdering his brother-in law, Kwabena Etse, 32. The plea of the accused, Sam Klutse was not taken.

Chief Inspector Vincent Agbodeka, prosecuting, told the court that Kwabena Etse on June 19 accompanied his sister, Janet Dogbenu, an ex-wife of Klutse to Mankwatey, a village near Kete-Krachi to take one of their four children to Accra.

He said the accused was not in the village when Etse and the sister took the child, Akofa Sam, away in a boat.

Chief Inspector Agbodeka said when Klutse returned and was told of the departure of Akofa he got angry.

He picked a locally made pistol with two live ammunition and chased the deceased to Asutsuare, an island in the Volta Lake, where they had docked.

The accused forcibly tried to remove Akofa from the boat but the deceased pleaded with him to exercise patience. Klutse turned on the deceased, pushed him into the lake and shot him with the pistol.
