ACCRA, March 7 (Reuters) - A Ghanaian businessman froze to death after being left in a mortuary refrigerator by relatives who believed him already dead, a local newspaper reported on Saturday.
The Mirror newspaper said that James MacCarthy, 43, was found early this week in a refrigerator in a police hospital mortuary, where he had been left by relatives.
MacCarthy fell into a coma while being driven to the hospital by the relatives, who deposited him at the mortuary instead of at the emergency ward, it added.
MacCarthy had bruises to his face, neck, hands and legs suggesting that he had struggled to get out of the mortuary drawer before he died of cold, it said.
