Goaso, (B/A), Jan. 23, GNA - A circuit court at Goaso presided over by Mr Osei Kwame Gyamfi, has sentenced a 25 year-old driver to five years imprisonment for biting off someone's nose. Atta Mensah pleaded guilty to the offence of causing harm and was convicted on his plea accordingly.
Police Chief Inspector Charles Arthur prosecuting told the court that Mensah and the complainant, Mr Adu Antwi, both residents at Goaso in Asunafo North Municipality of Brong-Ahafo, were not on good terms because of an earlier confrontation between them. He said in October last year Mensah confronted Antwi on the problem between them which degenerated into a scuffle during, which the convict knocked Mensah down.
While on the ground Atta rushed on him (Adu) and bit off his nose and bolted, the prosecutor added. Chief Inspector Arthur said on January 10 this year Mensah re-surfaced at Goaso and upon a tip-off the police arrested him. 23 Jan. 09
