Marine Engineer on 50 million cedi bail for demolishing a building

Tema, March 24, GNA- Daniel Tetteh, a Marine Engineer in Tema was on Wednesday granted 50 million cedi bail with one surety for his alleged involvement in the demolition of a building which has reached roofing stage.

He pleaded not guilty to causing unlawful damage and the presiding Judge, Mr S.K Teye adjourned the case to April 13, this year. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor said Madam Mary Nana Adjeiwaah on March 15 this year, went to her building site at community 12 and saw that her building, which had reached the roofing stage had been demolished with the window and door frames damaged.

She immediately reported the matter to the Tema Police Buffalo Unit who arrested a gentleman as a suspect for questioning.

According to the prosecutor the following day, Tetteh went to the Police and told them that he was the one who demolished the building and was prepared to face the consequences because the land belongs to him. He was then arrested and charged with the offence.
