There is a growing trend in the Ghanaian music where current musicians use lines of old hit tunes for their songs. Whether they seek permission before using the lines or not, we at Zionfelix.net cannot tell but one artiste is in hot waters over copyright transgression.

The king of sampling, Mark Okreku Mantey has threatened to go after fast-rising singer, Kelvinboy over copyright infringement in his song titled, Na You.

The Slip Music boss in an interview with Andy Dosty disclosed that the musician unlawfully used a portion of his artiste, Oheneba Kissih’s ‘Asem Ben Ni’ song in his single ‘Na You’ which features dancehall artiste Stonebwoy. He revealed that nobody from Kelvinboy‘s team contacted him before using lines of the ‘Asem Ben Ni’ song and that is against the laws of the country.

Zionfelix.net monitoring the morning show on Hitz FM heard Mr. Okraku Mantey say his artiste, Oheneba Kissih informed him sometime past that an up and coming musician under Stonebwoy‘s Burniton Music label had used a portion of his old song so he should follow up.

According to the music producer and former DJ, the legendary highlife artiste reported to him about the copyright infringement since he, Mark produced the song years back. The controversial music producer on the show promised to follow up with the case his artiste complained about in order to make sure Kelvinboy does the right thing.
