Marriage counselor Rev. Dr. Nanayaa Owusu-Prempeh has emphasized that marriage is not mandatory for everyone, contrary to popular belief.

She referenced the Bible, specifically Apostle Paul's teachings, where he expressed a preference for people to remain unmarried but acknowledged that due to lack of self-control, marriage is advisable to avoid sin.

Rev. Dr. Owusu-Prempeh urged society to stop condemning those who choose not to marry, as it is not a compulsory institution.

In an interview with TV3 on the Confession show, she noted that individuals who opt out of marriage should be prepared for the challenges that come with not having children to assist them.

"We are not all supposed to get married. Marriage is a choice. As Christians, we have role models, such as Apostle Paul, who chose not to marry. In 1 Corinthians 7, he says he wished no man would have a wife, but if you cannot control yourself, you should marry.

"Yes, it's better to marry than to masturbate or burn with passion. You should not condemn people who choose not to marry, but they shouldn't expect my child to run errands for them because they chose not to marry," she said.
