Merqury Quaye creates database for DJs Awards

The Chief Executive Officer of Merqury Republik, organizers of Ghana DJ Awards, has on Pluzz FM's Sunday afternoon show, Flex on Pluzz, refuted certain claims that have been made about his awards scheme since its inception.

He used the opportunity to dispel claims that he has been too quiet and just wandered about without creating any buzz about the DJ awards. The awards which had its maiden edition on the 22nd of September 2012 came with lots of glitches.

Last year's event had DJs such as DJ Black, DJ Virusky, and DJ Sarpee being awarded for their immense dedication to the field of work.

The events aim to recognize and reward DJs in Ghana for their remarkable works done to elevate the entertainment industry. Efforts of the event organizers have been commended, but it is perceived that they are going about the event lackadaisically.

Merqury Quaye denied the claim and stressed that they are not as relaxed as people assume but rather they are working daily to come out with an improved Ghana DJ Awards.

He mentioned that Merqury Republik is working on a database for DJs across the nation which would keep track of every DJ on air at any particular time on every Ghanaian radio station, keeping details of every DJ including their birthdays.

Despite the pressure from the host Sammy Flex to disclose how this database was being done, Merqury said it was a secret and laughed it off.

Merqury also said that the database would be able to track every DJ present in pubs, nightclubs and other places nationwide including mobile DJs.

According to him, the database is 65% done and would be ready by the end of August, 2014.

He ended by stating that the DJs awards would work with all the constructive criticisms and bring out a better show next year.
