Miss Ghana 1996 and first Ghanaian to represent Ghana in the Miss Universe contest but now Mrs. Ghana International 2015, Pearl Amoah is set to launch a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) to help support street girls in the country.
The NGO which is dubbed Advocating and Aid for Street Girls (AASTREG) is organizing its launch event called UTMOST CATWALK and is being put together by the Grooming Institute of Ghana.
According to Pearl, the event will have a spectacular fashion show where models will showcase creative costumes to entertain, enchant, and to raise funds for the NGO. It is also designed by the Creative Mind Studio.
For why Pearl Amoah is taking up this course she stated on BREEZE NEWS that “A common feature in many urban areas in Ghana is an army of young children scrambling to maintain a presence in the urban landscape. Many of these children at school age have been abandoned by their family or in some cases the children have abandoned their families”.
“My primary objective is to advocate and articulate the needs and the concerns of these children, to shelter and provide their daily needs and finally to put them into various institutions and establishments to learn a skill with respect to formulation of policies that will truly be beneficial to them” she added.
Currently, Pearl Amoah has five street girls she is taking care of and is aiming at housing and caring for more in their future and possibly after the launch of the NGO.
The launching of AASTREG will take place in the 27th of December at Alisa Hotel, Pegasus at 5pm prompt.
