Miss UCC To Become HIV/AIDS Ambassador

The competition for who wears the Miss UCC crown and earn the accolade for Miss UCC 2003 comes on at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) Cape Coast on Saturday.And the theme for the beauty pageant will be The impact of HIV/AIDS on Ghana — The role of the University Student and its prevention. The Local NUGS realising the threat of the pandemic to human existence, have found it necessary to launch a crusade to educate the public to prevent the infection of the dreaded disease.

The local NUGS in collaboration with Rolls Media Limited an advertising and Public Relations Company, have structured the pageant such that contestants will be taken through workshops, to become more knowledgeable about the disease to be able to also educate their peers and those in the SSS and JSS.Contestants were therefore camped at the Elmina Beach hotel to be equipped to undertake this important task, when they took part in the two-day workshop organised for the purpose.

On Saturday, ten students will go through a series of tests which will include giving messages, answering questions, showing how creative they are and dancing and moving in fashionable clothes to show how beautiful they are, at the end of which one of the will be crowned Miss UCC.Prizes will include Computers, Ghetto Blasters, Mobile Phones, Beauty Care Products, cash prizes and books. To enter patrons to the show will be Slim Buster, K.K. Fosu, Bat Man, Kokorveli and King David.

MC’s for the event will be Kwame Safa-Kayi and Abena Ntsifuah and it will be sponsored by Ghana Aids Commission, Young and Wise and Maxim Computers with support from Elmina Beach Hotel, IGIT Phones and More, Golden Cape Cafe, Radio Valco and Skyy Power FM, Takoradi.
