Most gospel artistes are not musicians - Okodieba Ahuofe

Ghanaian gospel musician and radio personality Akwesi Bamfo Wiredu popularly known in showbiz circles as Okodieba Ahuofe has said in an interview with Flex newspaper that most Ghanaian gospel artistes are not musicians.

According to him most Ghanaian gospel artistes are just singers and not musicians as they claim because as a serious artiste, you need to at least know how to play one musical instrument.

“I learnt how to use the Catania guitar when I was only nine years old so the use of the guitar is responsible for my success in this music life. To me, If you cannot play a musical instrument, then you are not a musician,” he disclosed.

His album which has songs like “Fa Gyedi Eka”, “Say it with Faith”, “Kasa”, “Wu Be Di Yie’, “It Shall Be Well with You” will be launched this year two weeks before December. The graduate of RABODEF said, “Ghana and the world should expect much from me because now I am coming all out for the music business.”

“Currently, I am in the studio working with artistes like Vivian Wayo, former alto singer for Rev Francis Adjei, Monica Esi Crentsil and my own daughter Mabel Wiredu, all of whom are under Total Victory records (TOVIC RECORDS)”, he added.

The musician cum radio personality extended his appreciation to Stephen Tetteh, Eric Akoto and all the crew in Sound Kitchen Studio and Kings Gate Studio for making this album a success and he added he is grateful also to his fans. “May the good Lord touch you all” was his last words.
