Ghanaian musician, Bisa Kdei, has clarified that being paid to perform at a political rally does not necessarily indicate support for the party hosting the event.
According to the ‘Brother Brother’ hitmaker, many musicians take these opportunities to earn money to cover their personal expenses and bills.
“We often misunderstand politics, and people get upset when they see a musician performing at a political event. However, musicians need to earn a living.
“Accepting money to perform at a political event doesn’t mean the musician supports that party. It’s simply a means to support themselves and their families,” he told Amansan Krakye.
He added, “The fans need to understand that artistes have to find ways to put food on the table and pay their bills. If a musician hasn’t had a show for the entire year and receives a significant amount to perform at a political event, they have to take it.”
