He sounded emotional, in fact, angry while recounting some treatments meted out to him by certain pastors he came across during his days as one of Ghana’s most popular gospel musicians, abrantepa.com can state!

Rev. Mensah Bonsu, known for hit songs like ‘Yehowa Ne M’abankese’ and ‘Nhyira’ without mincing words described some pastors as “wicked” when he appeared on Onua FM’s ‘Anigye Mmere’.

“My colleague pastors are wicked. They are very wicked. You’ll sing from morning to evening and they won’t give you common malt. When you bid them farewell, they say ‘May the Lord be with you’. May who be with me?” he angrily queried to the astonishment of host of the show, Christian Agyei Frimpong.

“Pastor, take it easy. It appears you’re getting angry” said the host.

“When you complain in secrecy and they pay no heed to you, you tell them your mind when an opportunity [to be on radio] comes your way. Their conduct is distasteful. When I released ‘Yehowa Ne M’abankese’, I presented the album to my church, suggested that they promote it and use the profit for the construction of a chapel; they ignored me. God is my witness,” Rev. Mensah Bonsu replied.

Touching on why he has not been active on the music scene for years, he mentioned the lack of funds for promotion as the reason. He stressed that even though he has composed a number of songs, he is unable to release any because there is no executive producer as it was the case in times past.
