Nollywood Africa TV, a platform that offers streaming services for local content, has been launched in the Ghanaian capital of Accra.
The media launch took place on Friday, May 10, with industry players in attendance.
The Founder, Destiny Austin Omon, stated that the platform was created for movie lovers to have unrestricted access to a variety of content at an affordable rate.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the event, he mentioned that the cost was reduced to meet the needs of every movie lover.
"What we noticed is that sometimes streaming platforms are too expensive for a typical Ghanaian person to access because everybody thinks of food and school fees before subscription. So we decided to reduce the cost significantly."
"If we charge one dollar a year, let's consider the population. If we can reach 10 million people, that's 10 million dollars. Let's start somewhere."
He revealed that the project will expand from Ghana to Nigeria and Kenya in the near future, emphasizing that the platform already offers 2,000 movies.
Some industry colleagues were also acknowledged for their contribution to the growth of movie industry in Ghana and Nigeria
