Music Awards - Voting Begins

The voting process for the choosing of winners in this year's Our Music Awards has commenced.

The interactive voting process, which began this week follows the format adopted last year whereby the public is invited to nominate potential award winners through the Internet on ourmusicawards.com, radio phone-in programmes, newspapers and in selected drinking bars country-wide.

The first round of voting is expected to last until the end of October after which the second round will begin via Buzz GSM phones.

At this level, designated phone lines will be assigned to all nominees in the various categories.

By November, final voting would have ended, paving the way for the awards events to be held on December 6 at the National Theatre. Our Music Awards, organized by total Marketing Services, seeks to reward Ghanaian musicians and direct and develop their talents.

The annual event, which made its debut last year, further seeks to lift Ghanaian musicians and their works up to international heights.

Categories to be awarded are highlife, hiplife, gospel, sankofa, Kriss Kross and indigenous music. In all there will be 23 categories open for awards.
