Musical Jamboree to rock Accra after CAF Draw

Accra, Oct 11, GNA - A special music jamboree would precede the draw of the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations scheduled for the International Conference Center in Accra on Friday, October 19. The inter-participating nations' jamboree pieced together by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Ghana ACN 2008 to celebrate the qualification of the 15 countries that will join Ghana for the three-week fiesta is slated for the forecourt of the State House a few hours before the draw.

Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the LOC told the five-hour long event.

The musical explosion and cultural exposition would house Ivorian music Super Star, Freddie Meiway and Ghanaian music sensations that will include Samini, Wutah, Mzbel, King Ayisoba and Amakye Dede among others on the same stage.

Officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and representatives of the 16 National Football Federations would attend the jamboree, which would be open to the public.

The COO said priority of seating would be offered to government officials, Members of Parliament, members of the Diplomatic Corps, stakeholders of the tournament and traditional authorities when they all come together to celebrate a night of culture, musical entertainment and fashion shows.

Danquah said Mad. Patricia Appiagyei,Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Stanley Agyiri-Blankson of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mr Philip Nkrumah, Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly and Mr Mohammed Amin Anta of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly would make presentations on progress made on the four venues.

"In order not to lose out of the economic opportunities that the event will generate at the four venue cities, Municipal and District Assemblies are being given the opportunity to use the jamboree to market their economic and tourism prospects to roll out hospitality packages for the respective countries they will be hosting." The four venue cities are Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale.
