The conversation about who did not deserve a certain award at the recently held Ghana Music Awards is still on and the latest artiste to add his voice to the discussion is highlife singer, Nana Yaw Kumi popularly known as Kumi Guitar.
Kumi Guitar who had four nominations with his song, Dream speaking to Zionfelix on Radio Univers in Accra believes he should have won at least two categories out of the four.
According to the father of three, Abass, director for the ‘Dream’ video should have been mentioned as the winner for the Best Music Video category but not Gyo who worked on Captain Planet’s ‘Obi Agye Obi Girl’ music video.
To him, he thinks a lot went into the production of the Dream video so it was only right for the video to pick the enviable award on April 14 evening.
Aside from the music video category, the Zylofon Media artiste also opined that he should have won the songwriter of the year.
“I stood the chance in winning all four categories but songwriter and video of the year should have gone to me. I had most legends in the video I shot, we put a lot of effort into it and it came out very well. Compared to all videos in the category, My dream video was the best so I don’t know why it went to different person.
"Also with the songwriter, If you study how I wrote the song and how it was arranged, I should have won it. Anybody who first listens to the Dream song will think it is a love song but you will later realise it is about highlife music genre and that is the mark of a good songwriter".
"I don’t really know why I didn’t win any of them, maybe its because of the votes” Kumi Guitar said on the Brunch2Lunch entertainment show".
