Ghanaian sound engineer and singer Daniel Owusu Agyapong, known in entertainment circles as Danny Beatz has disclosed that his first professional work as a beat maker was Guru’s ‘Nkwaada Nkwaada’ which was his breakthrough after five years.

In an interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment, the sound engineer who is behind several hit songs from the camp of the RuffTown Records late artiste, Ebony Reigns, said he mixed Guru’s song which featured Dobble without a studio monitor.

“I recorded Guru’s popular song ‘Nkwaada Nkwaada’ without a monitor. After making that for Guru, I wasn’t sure if I got what he wanted right but after he released the song and everybody jammed to it, I was surprised. I was expecting Guru to criticize the beat or give it an experienced sound engineer to work on the beat again but he never did. He called to tell me that the song was enjoying massive airplay.”

Speaking with Guru, he admitted that his ‘Nkwaada Nkwaada’ song went as far as China and Gabon. He commended Danny Beatz for the quality of songs he has recorded for most popular artistes.

“After Danny Beatz produced my hit song ‘Nkwaada Nkwaada’, he has never rested and that is why I’m so proud of him.” Guru said.

Revealing how he never gave up on his dream of becoming one of the top beat makers in Ghana though the discouragement from friends and family were worrying, Danny Beatz said his focus was to prove to critics that he can thrive with his talent.

“I started making speakers with plywood. When I started as a young sound engineer following Kawywa, Richie Lynx, Appietus and Hammer.

“I was never disappointed when people around me failed to believe in my dream to become a sound engineer.” he told Kojo Preko Dankwa

Talking about his success journey into the industry, Danny Beatz said both Sound engineering and music have taken him far.

Danny Beatz who is celebrating ten years as a sound engineer, has recorded artists such Dobble, Pope Skinny, Gasmilla, Tutulapato, Iwan, AK Songstress, Mzbel and many others.

He was brought up listening to Reggae and Highlife under the influence of his father at home and later discovered his ability to write and compose his own music.

Currently the buzzing musician/producer is signed on to African Prince Records and RuffTown Records. His first single released under the label is “Mede Kuku” which featured the late Ebony Reigns and produced “Date Ur Fada and Hustle” (Me Di Wo Dwa) also for the late Ebony Reigns.
