The CEO of Chapter One Classics, Leslie Twenefour Wiredu has debunked rumors that he uses Illuminati signs in making designs for his clothing line.
According to the designer, his innovative style in creating new artworks is the reason behind his unique designs.
The designer made this known in an exclusive Q & A with Hitz FM.
Below is the conversation between Chapter One and Hitz FM.
Q. How are you and your clothing line?
A. By the grace of God, everything is going on well.
Q. There are rumours that you use Illuminati signs in your designs, how true is that?
A. They will only want to describe my art as Illuminati because my works are beautiful and match the international standards. Most Ghanaian designers are lazy and spend all their time copying from each other instead of thinking and coming out with creative ideas.
Q. So you think you are not copying others too?
A. Never, Chapter One does not copy designs. We create them and that’s what makes us unique in the market.
Q. But looking at your designs it looks like you copied some international designs and changed a few things about it?
A. My focus as a designer is to reach the international market, therefore if I modernize a design it does not mean I'm doing same, but rather doing it better than the white man has already done.
Q. Did some international artistes like Kanye West, Jay Z and Kendric Lamar really approve of your designs?
A. Sure, because it matches international standards and it is also close to something they can associate with.
Q. Tell us about the clothes you designed for Dark Suburb.
A. Yes, the group ‘Dark Suburb’ is a rock band who prefer not to show their faces. They noticed my designs in the ‘2014 Evil Must Die’ collection and surprisingly it had a connection with their ideas therefore we sealed a contract.
Q. Any last thing you want to say?
A. I would want to tell Ghanaians to quit that negative attitude and help support to build the (fashion) industry rather than tarnishing people’s images and killing their spirits.
Chapter One has worked with some artistes like Sarkodie, Edem, 4X4, D2, Nacee, Trigmatic, VIP, Eazzy and Davido.
