After drawing the curtains on his 23-year old marriage with ex-wife, Gloria Lamptey, Former Ghanaian international, Odartey Lamptey said he should have listened to advice from family members before getting married.
Recently DNA tests proved that the three children the Ghanaian international had been “fathering” all this while were not his biological children. When this news broke, wife and mother of the three children, Gloria Lamptey took the former footballer to court demanding a fair share of his properties.
The footballer recounted that prior to his marriage to his ex-wife he refused to listen to advice from family members against his choice of a wife; an action which he deeply regrets today.
He said that it was difficult advising people who were in love or about to get married because most of the time, they would not listen.
He said that many people learned the hard way and he had become a victim. He confessed that it had now become clear to him what he had gone in for despite all the advice from his mother and other family members.
The former Anderlecht and Aston Villa player said he had picked up valuable lessons from his circumstances and was going to live his life going forward with caution.
He also advised anyone going through a situation like his not to consider suicide as an option.
After months of court hearings and tussles, Justice Cecilia Don-Chebe Agbevey, the presiding judge repudiated Gloria's request for an equal share of the family property and even gave her a 30-day ultimatum to vacate the seven-bedroom house at East Legon in which she lived.
She was however recompensed with a car and a four-bedroom house at Dome. Odartey Lamptey has now given birth to 2 children with his girlfriend, Ruweida Yakubu a former beauty pageant finalist and an actress.
