Ghanaian and Nollywood actress Juliet Ibrahim has hailed her mother Sarah Elizabeth Ibrahim as an exceptionally brave woman who would do anything for her children.

Juliet Ibrahim was born in Ghana to a Lebanese father and a Ghanaian-Liberian mother and is the first of four daughters; Sonia, Nabil and Nadia her sisters. Juliet along with her siblings spent the longest part of their childhood in Lebanon and Cote d’Ivoire due to the war in Liberia.

Speaking exclusively to TV3 Network in celebration of Mothers’ Day, the chic actress recounted her mother’s bravery during the civil war in Liberia, where she had encounters with rebels and even had shots fired between her legs because she only wanted to protect her children.

“Growing up with her was amazing and we’ve experienced wars together and we’ve been through four different civil wars.

“ I saw the times where she will carry my little sisters when rebels were shooting between her legs and still holding my sisters and protecting us and she will tell me ‘Juliet go and hide, take Sonia and your brother and hide’ and that was how much she never let us out of her sight.

“There was a time when rebels came to one of our stores in Liberia back then and they told her that the boy she was carrying in her stomach which was my brother will be called AK47 and she told them no; that’s not my son’s name and I wouldn’t name him AK47.

“I saw her argue with the rebels back and forth and they were having guns and I saw to the point where they shot between her legs and she was still ready to fight the guy because he was trying to threaten my dad.

“Mothers will do anything for their children and mothers are our superheroes so I always say a mother is a superwoman.

“I would like wish my mother Sarah Elizabeth Ibrahim a Happy Mother’s Day.”
