Father of the late Sowutuom-based artiste, Wyllbee, has spoken out regarding the circumstances surrounding his son's tragic death in Kumasi.

The up-and-coming artiste was killed at Abuakwa-Tanoso in the Ashanti Region while staying overnight at the residence of his alleged lover, Nana Yaa Nyarko, who was living with her husband’s family.

According to reports, on Friday, July 5, 2024, Wyllbee allegedly woke up to urinate in the compound's fence area, where he was seen by some residents and was confronted under suspicion of being a thief.

Reportedly, he tried to explain that he was there to spend time with Nana Yaa Nyarko, but she allegedly denied knowing him to protect her marriage in the presence of her in-laws.

This escalated the situation, as the occupants alerted neighbours, claiming they had caught a thief, leading to Wyllbee being brutally beaten to death.

Speaking to the media after the first court appearance of Nana Yaa Nyarko and some other suspects, Wyllbee’s father expressed his pain at the tag given to his son, emphasizing that Wyllbee was never a thief and that his death was in vain.

“It hurts to find out that he was tagged a thief. I don't think there is anything that my son would want to steal from that house. I couldn't even watch the pictures. We are not rich but we would never steal to make a living," he said.

“My son was killed for nothing. His songs on social media are a testament to the bright future my son has and it was just taken away just like that,” he added.

He narrated how he first heard of the sad news, not knowing that his son was the victim.

“My wife told me a young man was mistaken as a thief and beaten when he went to visit his girlfriend. By then I didn't know that it was my son. My brother was the one who went to the scene and found out,” he narrated.
