NAM1’s flaws will be more; let’s support him – Sarkodie

Rapper, Sarkodie is urging Ghanaians to rally behind Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1) in his quest to move the Ghana music industry to a higher pedestal.

In an interview with Andy Dosty of Daybreak Hitz, Monday, Sarkodie lauded the Zylofon Media boss for believing in the arts and investing in it but stressed that there was the need for industry players to support the business mogul.

“I think we should all be Zylofon, not necessarily signed to the label. But we all have to support Zylofon, because he [Nana Appiah Mensah] has this dream and I think he himself doesn’t even know how to go about it because this is entertainment and it’s not his field,” he said.

"So his flaws will be more and we will be using his flaws to critique him and maybe…. I know he is strong and he will not back out. I don’t need to be signed to the label to support it but I think we all need to support Zylofon. For a long time, this is the time someone has to believe in art,” he added.

Sarkodie however debunked reports he joining Zylofon Music.

“We never got a conversation like that but I had the opportunity to be very close to Nana Appiah Mensah and conversations that we’ve had, I think I understand his vision” he noted.

A number of people have commended Nana Appiah Mensah for investing in Ghana’s showbiz sector. His entity has rolled out initiatives including the Zylofon Arts Fund, Zylofon Cash, Zylofon Arts Club, among others.

The Zylofon Arts Fund, for instance, which was set up in January 2018, with a startup capital of $1million to provide financial support to persons and firms in the creative arts industry – has been overly active since its inception, providing the much-needed succor for industry players.
