Gospel artiste, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, has attributed the issue of illegal mining, known as galamsey, to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He alleged that the NDC has brought foreigners into Ghana and provided them with the necessary equipment to damage water bodies and lands.

According to the musician, the NDC's intention is to undermine President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's government, hoping to sway public opinion against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections.

"The NDC brought foreigners to Ghana and supplied them with equipment and logistics to destroy the water bodies. This is to put pressure on the government, making it look bad to the public and encouraging votes for John Mahama.

"So far, only NDC pastors are speaking on the galamsey issue. I commend Akufo-Addo for being tough. Some of the foreigners even wear military attire to kill people and blame the government," he said in Twi during an interview with Wontumi TV.

Omane Acheampong also called on Ghanaians to vote against the NDC Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, arguing that he lacks effective policies to advance the country.

"I want to make it clear that Mahama has no vision. He has held various positions from Assembly member to president, yet he does not have a single policy to show. Mahama does not qualify to become president again," he added.

Omane Acheampong has been a fervent supporter of the NPP, campaigning vigorously as the general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024, approaches.
