Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has said he is unperturbed about the victimisation he has suffered since he openly declared his support for the governing National Democratic Congress and its flag bearer President John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 election.

According to him, he has been insulted and has had many endorsement deals cancelled because of his decision to campaign for the NDC, but he still stands by his decision because he has seen the good works of the Mahama-led administration.

Mr Dumelo, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, 6 December, a day to the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections, also cautioned the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to be surprised by the election results as he believes they will go in favour of the NDC.

“I have been insulted, threatened with death, accused wrongly, framed up and stones thrown at me. I have had endorsement deals cancelled and business deals sabotaged. My crime: I support the NDC. That's my only crime,” he posted.

“You insult me because I dream big, maybe you dream small. You insult me because I think big, maybe you think too small. I'm glad I'm different and I'm glad millions of Ghanaians are different.

Millions of Ghanaians are afraid to come out and say they support the NDC because they fear victimisation. I'm not afraid. I fear no one but the God I serve.

You want to threaten me because I'm speaking on behalf of millions of voiceless Ghanaians who can see the good works of President John Mahama? Their voice is in their thumb and it will speak on Dec 7th for JDM...

NPP, don’t let the election results surprise you. My name is John Dumelo and I'm voting for JDM.”
