Afia Schwarzenegger has stated that she sees nothing wrong with Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah defecting to Mr. John Dramani Mahama's camp, arguing that after all he did for the NPP, they treated him unfairly in the end.

She recounted the period when the Glorious Word Power Ministries International founder was arrested and remanded, recalling how the party turned its back on him when he needed support the most.

Reflecting on the NPP’s lack of assistance during his ordeal, Afia said that the incident broke Owusu-Bempah.

Her comments come in response to the public backlash Owusu-Bempah has faced after endorsing Mahama as the rightful candidate appointed by God to lead the country.

Rev Owusu-Bempah has since been criticised on social media for his perceived disloyalty to the NPP and for aligning with Mahama, whom he had previously condemned.

However, Afia Schwarzenegger expressed her understanding of Owusu-Bempah's actions.

She has insisted that loyalty has not cloud her judgment of the truth, stating, “The NPP was never fair to Owusu-Bempah; they didn’t treat him well. Many may be upset by my statement, but I am speaking the truth. From his arrest to being remanded, he was not treated properly!”

She continued, “That treatment broke him. He was embarrassed and humiliated. When he reached out to key members of the party, none of them answered his calls.”

Afia concluded, “You might not need him today, but you may need him in the future. If this happened to me, I would join Akua Donkor’s party. If the NPP treats me like this, I’d distance myself from them. Regardless of what Owusu-Bempah says now, the fact remains that he wasn’t treated well.”

Owusu Bempah's arrest

In 2021, Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah and 6 others were slapped with 11 new counts of criminal offences in his unending fight with Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, formerly known as Nana Agrada.

The Offences included offensive conduct to the breach of peace, and threats of death, as well as conspiracy to, and abetment.

It was reported that Nana Agradaa, the complainant in the case, claimed that some individuals, including Owusu-Bempah, had brandished a gun at her, with a 24-hour notice to kill her over allegations that she had insulted the pastor.

Owusu-Bempah and some of his church members reportedly stormed Agradaa's home, brandishing a gun and daring her to come outside.

A video recording of the alleged threat quickly went viral on social media.
