The third edition of the Nescafe Africa revelation (NAR) was launched at the Trade fair, Golden Lily Hall last Friday.
The launch which was witnessed by a large section of both print and the electronic media had the crème de la crème of the nation hilife and hiplife musicians in attendance.
This year’s edition has the Theme: Nescafe African Revelation - A Chance to Discover Yourself- was officially launched by the Brand Manager of Nestle Ghana, Mad. Hafisa Arthur.
In her address she said this edition will embark on music and dance journey of self discovery for the youth. The journey will began with auditions to select zonal contestant who will be performing in groups of 2-4, or a group made up of at least 1 singer and 1 dancer.
Each group will be audition with a NESCAFE song and a self composed song, both accapellas. Two finalists from each zone will then compete in December for the national championship.
According to Mad. Hafisa, NAR 2008 will be carried across Central and West Africa and this year participating countries are: Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Niger, Cote d’ Ivoire, Senegal and Cameroon. This year’s national winner will represent Ghana at the West & Central African Finals in February, 2008 which will be held in Cote d’ Ivoire.
Prior to this the national winner will have a one year recording, management and promotion contract, fully furnished accommodation for a year and a car at his or her disposal also for a year.
The show will also be supported by a website: www.nescafeafricanrevelation.com that will have information on past and current events updates. It will also be supported by a NAR- TV, a semi reality series which will be aired on Metro TV every Sunday at 5:30 and repeated on Tuesday at 8pm.
The theme song for this years’ edition was performed live by Ramzy and Riche. The first runners-up of 2004 Wutah also did performed some few tracks from their old and the new album as well as the National and West Africa champions of 2004, Praye.
Immediately after the media soirée a big musical carnival was held at the forecourt of the Trade Fair which has about over 30 musicians performing. The show was successfully emceed by KOD.
