A new film law is in the offing. The Development and classification of Film Bill, 2016 is geared towards addressing challenges in the cinematography industry.
Speaking in Parliament after the House had made some fine tuning to the Bill, the Chairman of the Youth, Sports and Culture committee, Kobena Mensah Woyome, said the existing law has many loopholes that does not protect stakeholders of the industry.
He said the new law addresses issues such as content, royalties and copyright infringements.
Mr. Woyome also said the Law makes will streamline the importation and exportation of films.
