Legendary Ghanaian rapper Big Joe Fraizer has added his voice to the open debate about the talent of new rappers as compared to old rappers.

In an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM, Big Joe Fraizer stated that the current generation of rappers lacks the rigorous learning process that was a necessity in the past due to the lack of financial backing.

“Those times, as I said earlier, whether you like it or not, you will learn. Because it was very difficult for you to get someone who is financially strong to support you.

“But today, it's not like that. With technology and finances, anyone can come out and claim to be a rapper. He's not going to learn,” he said.

He cited the times when rappers like Okyeame Kwame were active, adding that the quality of rap and the learning curve for rappers were more rigorous.

He acknowledged that while some emerging rappers show promise, they do not compare to the seasoned veterans in the industry.

“Even though some of the new ones are good. However, comparing them to the big boys, I completely disagree,” he said.
