In the meeting of the association, a renowned musician Carlos Sakyi in his speech, claimed that MUSIGA has failed to live up to the expectation, so there was the need for the new union to be formed.
This made it necessary for some old folks to come together and form PROMAG.
According to Carlos Sakyi, PROMAG is a new union made up of experienced and knowledgeable personalities such as Gyedu Blay Ambuley, Mac Tonto, Charles Amoah, Rex Omar, Kojo Antwi and others who matter in the music industry.
He further said that MUSIGA has failed to give its members the benefits due them. He cited Article four (4) of the MUSIGA constitution that is to protect all musicians and members of MUSIGA in the country but was certain that MUSIGA had failed to honor the constitution, which is to govern the Union.
Gyedu Blay Ambuley on his part gave the assurance that the new Association (PROMAG) will go a long way to alleviate poverty in the lives of musicians “if only they will unite and join PROMAG in fighting this canker of poverty among the stars’’.
On Kojo Antwi’s part, he said ‘all musicians in Ghana should come together and be very committed and change their attitude towards the industry with that “I am sure we can reach somewhere,’ he said.
The meeting was sponsored by DIGIDI Ghana, which is an online distribution centre where all Ghanaian musicians irrespective of the membership can market and sell their albums internationally online.
