Newly born baby girl abandoned

Accra, June 25, GNA- A newly born baby girl, covered in blood, was abandoned behind the Land Title Registry, at the precinct of the Ministries' in Accra, on Friday.

Mrs Sophia Amofa Torpey, Greater Accra Regional Commanding Officer, Women and Juvenile Unit of the Police Service who disclosed this to the She said Amoah who thought it was a mother and child, who had taken shelter behind the wall, invited a colleague, to accompany him to find out what was happening to them at the bizarre time of the night. When they arrived at the scene, the two watchmen found to their amazement an abandoned baby girl, with her severed umbilical cord lying by her.

Musah's colleague, Bashiru Asore, picked up the baby, wrapped it, and rushed it to the Ministries' Police Station. Unfortunately for them the police personnel on duty were all men, who advised them to send the baby back, get it washed and fed, and bring it back in the morning when they anticipated the arrival of their female colleagues.

Luckily for the two security personnel, they met one Madam Ajara Nuhun, who volunteered to wash, feed and cloth the baby. The healthy looking baby has been sent to the Police Hospital.
