Broken Heart singer Nii Funny is set to release a new song with veteran Adane Best soon, if photos posted on social media by his manager are anything to go by.
The photos, published on Facebook on Thursday (March 16) show both musicians in the studios of highlife producer Appietus. Images were accompanied by the caption: “It’s on fire. It’s cooking in Apparatus’ kitchen. Boiling fast”.
Adane Best is a true highlife veteran. Since releasing his debut album Ayitey (1992), he has gone on to release seven other albums (including Se Wu Bre, Wa nu Pe Asem, Rabbi, Maafio, Soja Go Soja Come, Ayekoo and Mamma).
In 2008, he picked up Best Highlife Album at the Ghana Music Awards, and he’s also recipient of an EGRAG Award for Best Dance Music (1994), Ghana Music Award for Best Highlife Song (2003) among other laurels.
Usually singing in Ga, Adane’s songs are based on poignant societal themes, and they are always catchy because of the comic elements which accompany them.
Nii Funny is in the running for Best New Artiste at the forthcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
